Baseball wraps regular season this week, hopes for post-season play
Just two opponents stand between Daytona State College's baseball team and a potential postseason appearance in the FCSAA state tournament. Right now, Daytona State (20-19, 11-11) is in third place in the Mid-Florida Conference, one game ahead of both Florida State College at Jacksonville (19-21, 10-11) and Seminole State College of Florida (24-23, 10-11). If they can hold on at third, the Falcons will be in the Wild Card play-in game for the tournament on April 27.
First, however, the Falcons have to close out the regular season against two conference opponents. Daytona State will travel to Orlando to face Seminole State on Wednesday April 19. The Falcons are 1-2 against Seminole State this year, but their one win over the Raiders was a big one, 21-2 at home on March 29.
Friday, April 21, the baseball squad will finish the 2017 season at home against the second place team in Mid-Florida, Santa Fe College (33-11, 16-5). First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. With the postseason bid on the line, the Falcons need fans to come out and show their support!

Win or lose, the team will play again Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. against Florida SouthWestern (52-5, 18-2) or Tallahassee Community College (21-23, 5-15) in the double-elimination tournament.
