High school senior, Kendall Johnson has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to attend and play golf at Daytona State College starting in the fall of 2016. Johnson is from Plant City, FL and currently attends Plant City High School. Johnson is the ideal student-athlete as she is gifted both in the classroom and on the course.
Johnson is a member of the National Honor Society and has an excellent academic background. Her academic accomplishments include being honored as the 2015 Norman Schwarzkopf Award Recipient for leadership, grades, community service and athletics. She was also the recipient of the 2015 West Point Society Ethics and Leadership Award and the 2015 Congressional Classroom Award Recipient and is a 2015 AP Scholar. Equally talented in her sport, Johnson's most recent accomplishments include wins at the JPGA at Reunion, FL with scores of 73-71, at the Miami Junior Challenge in Miami, FL with scores of 73-70 and at the Tampa Junior Challenge in September of 2015 with scores of 69-77.
Johnson has extensive competitive experience including both golf and softball. She began early with softball from elementary school through middle school including travel ball and ultimately to compete in a National Championship. Johnson decided to switch to golf in high school and has worked extremely hard to get where she is now with golf. "This just shows how dedicated she is to the game and how determined she is to be the best she can be," Coach Laura Brown stated. "Kendall spends countless hours working on her game and it shows in the progress she has made in a short period of time. She seems to react well under pressure and thrives in competition. I am very excited about Kendall becoming a part of the Falcon Family next fall. She knows quite of few of my current players and it will be an easy transition for her from high school. Her dedication to both her sport and academics is very apparent and I am confident that she will be successful here at Daytona State College."
