October 8, 2019:  The Daytona State College Women's Golf Team continued their solid play into their 3rd event of the fall season at the Stetson Hatter Fall Classic at Alaqua Lakes Country Club in Lake Mary, FL.   The Lady Falcons posted rounds of 305-292 (597) to finish just 5 shots behind tournament winner Stetson University who shot rounds of 296-296 (592) in the rain shortened event.  The Lady Falcons posted their lowest team round of the season thus far with their 2nd round score of 292.

The Falcons were led once again by freshman, Symone Henriques who finished in a tie for first place individually with scores of 70-74 (144) at the completion of play.  Henriques finished on top of the leaderboard with Helen Kreuzer, a junior from Lynn University, who shot scores of 73-71 (144).  The two players had to go into a playoff to determine the winner and on the first playoff hole Henriques drained a 25-foot birdie putt to capture the individual title.

"This was an exciting way for Symone to secure her first collegiate title" said Coach Laura Brown.  There was a team playoff for the overall team competition as well, so there was quite a few people watching the playoffs unfold.  Symone handled the pressure really well and for her to birdie the first hole was very impressive.  I am very happy for her and this was a well-deserved win.  The team effort on the last day was also impressive, as they shot their lowest team score of the season. I am very pleased with our   overall performance, as they are improving as a group and are starting to show consistency in their rounds."

Other finishers for the Falcons include Casey Sommer 76-75 (151), Jessica Bailey 81-71 (152), Manon Donche-Gay 78-76 (154), Sarah Scott 84-72 (156), Ella Melin 83-78 (161) and Stephanie Rodney with scores of 82-80 (162).

The Lady Falcons return to action October 13-15 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by College of Charleston at Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, SC.
