Falcons Finish Strong in the Classroom

After a 14-3 finish and ending the season ranked 16th in the country for NJCAA, the Falcons finished out the 2017-2018 academic year with a cumulative 3.0 GPA in the classroom.

"We set a goal to reach a 3.0 this year and both our sophomore class and freshman class pushed hard to achieve it. Next season we will set the bar even higher with hopes of increasing our team GPA," says head coach Bart Sasnett.

Sasnett says that it is also important to note that Travis Rovillo, the assistant coach, has worked countless hours in study hall, 1-on-1 and group settings with the players to ensure academic success.  Daytona State has many academic resources on campus and Coach Rovillo ensures that the players utilize them.  Furthermore, the guys have a great Academic Advisor, Alison Mohr, who challenges them in being better every day.

Daytona State has a great reputation for academics and athletics and we believe we are on a path that is advancing our team in both areas.

Along with the team achieving great success on the field as well as in the classroom, 9 sophomores will be graduating from Daytona State and continuing their academic and playing careers at the 4-year university level.

"The main goal of our program is education and graduating our guys onto the next level," says Sasnett. "We are in the business of shaping these young men to become a positive and impactful citizen of their Daytona community. We know that they will take what they've learned here and carry it onto wherever their life takes them."
