Daytona State College celebrated Homecoming in style with a commanding 4-1 victory over conference rivals Miami Dade College in a tightly contested match.
The game opened with high intensity as both teams battled for control. The Falcons appeared to strike first, but their early goal was disallowed due to an offside call. Miami Dade capitalized on the moment, breaking the deadlock in the 35th minute with a well-placed shot that gave them a 1-0 lead.
Daytona State responded in the 42nd minute, Shelby Phanor found the equalizer, connecting with a perfectly timed cross from Carlos Rojas to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
The second half belonged entirely to the Falcons, and more specifically, to their sophomore forward, who delivered a stunning hat trick. His first came in the 60th minute with a powerful header off a Josue Youta cross. Just three minutes later, he struck again—this time finishing a delivery from Kayoum M'Bamba. The final blow came courtesy of Joachim Kyei, whose cross into the box was expertly finished by Carlos Rojas to seal the 4-1 win.
With the victory, the Falcons improve to 7-1-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They'll look to keep the momentum going as they host USC Sumter at home on Thursday.
