Men's Cross Country Top 25 at Huntsville

The Daytona State men's cross country team placed 25th out of 47 teams at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday. Led by sophomore Evan Casterline, the Falcons beat several NCAA Div 1 teams in the field and finished ahead of Region 8 rival teams.  The Falcons top five had a time gap of one minute and 14 seconds, which is 30 seconds less than their UCF outing two weeks ago.  Sophomore Pedro Zapata had what could be considered the best run of the day, running a personal record of 26:41 for the 8000 meter distance.  The Falcons ran seven freshmen, all who were running the 8000 meter distance for the first time.  Of that class, Nick Pugh ran the fastest time with a 27:14, placing fifth for the Falcons.  Next up for the Falcons is the FSU Pre-Regional on September 27th.
