Clark Leads Falcons to Best Times

Daytona State men's cross country chased fast times at the Jayhawk Invitational in Muskegon Michigan this past weekend. The Falcons had several personal best times on their way to finishing fourth overall out of sixteen teams. The field consisted of Lansing, ranked #1 in NJCAA, Grand Valley State, one of the top NCAA Division 2 teams in the country and Wayne State, another NCAA Division 2 team. The Falcons finished ahead of six other junior colleges, all from Michigan. Freshman Hayden Clark lead the way for the Falcons with a 12th place finish and a new personal record of 25:44, which now puts him in the top 15 in the country. Clark was followed closely by Jeffrey Belizaire who place 21st with a new personal record of 26:06. Third for the Falcons was Michael (Luke) Brewer, running a 25 second personal best. Six more Falcons would finish with personal records for the day. "We were really lucky to get such good weather, but this was not an easy course. I'm very happy with how everyone handled the hills and this prepared us well for the national course, which if very similar, " commented Coach Judy Wilson. Other Falcons with personal records were freshman William Hernandez (26:43), sophomore Nikolas Boone (26:49), Samuel Otero (27:01), Nathan Henning (27:05), Spencer Lawrence (27:20), and Julian Scanlon (27:28). Next up for the Falcons is the Region 8 championship on October 24th at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
