The men's cross country team will not have far to travel for their Saturday competition when they line up at the Embry Riddle Invitational this Saturday. Located on the Embry Riddle campus, just across International Speedway Boulevard, the Falcons will take on 13 different teams including home team Embry Riddle, cross town NCAA Division 1 Bethune Cookman, and three Region 8 rival teams. The Falcons will be competing in their second 8000 meter race of the season. Start time for the men's race is 7:20am (preceding the women's 7:50am start). The Falcons are led by freshmen Caden Baker and Jeffrey Belizaire. With the difficulty of the course, the Falcons will be focusing on placement more than time and are focusing on closing the gap between their top two and their next three runners. "We have a solid group in terms of their high school times, now it will be about them developing as a group and learning how to trust each other." commented Head Coach Judy Wilson, now in her eighth season with the Falcons. (The top five runners from each team comprise the team score.) The Falcons will look to Michael (Luke) Brewer, Spencer Lawrence, Nathan Henning, Samuel Otero, Julian Scanlon, and William Hernandez to step up and close that gap. Parking is available near the ICI building on the Embry Riddle campus off of Clyde Morris Ave. The race finishes on the Embry Riddle soccer field located at 1 Aerospace Blvd., Daytona Beach.
