Daytona State College came up short on the road Wednesday night, falling 81–72 to Eastern Florida State at Titan Field House. The Falcons trailed 37–31 at the half but worked their way back in the third, making it just a one-possession game. Eastern Florida, however, caught fire late, putting up 31 points in the final quarter to create just enough separation down the stretch.
Offensively, Lamiyah Hogans led Daytona State with 20 points, attacking the lane and getting to the line. Catalina Roco provided a big spark off the bench with 17 points, knocking down three threes. Kendall Ruise stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals in an energetic two-way effort, while Raili Bast added 8 points on an efficient 4-of-5 from the field.
Eastern Florida’s 11 made threes and 22-for-31 night at the free throw line ultimately proved to be the difference, but Daytona State continued to compete, getting key contributions from its rotation in another tough conference road environment. The Falcons move to 17–4 overall and 9–2 in conference play. They will play their next conference game against Santa Fe College on Saturday, February 7th, at 2:00 p.m.
