Daytona State College took care of business at home Wednesday night, knocking off Eastern Florida State 78–65 at the L. Gale Lemerand Center. The Falcons jumped out to a 20–17 edge after the first quarter and stretched it to 43–34 at the half. A strong third-quarter push gave Daytona State a comfortable cushion heading into the fourth, where they were able to absorb Eastern Florida’s late makes and close things out.
Falcons were led by Lamiyah Hogans, who powered the offense with 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting, adding 3-of-3 at the line plus 4 steals. Jaeden Williams turned in another all-around night with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists, steadying the group and finding teammates in rhythm. Catalina Roco chipped in 11 points with a pair of threes, while Calise Chisholm battled inside for 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Daytona State’s depth and defense again played a major role. Off the bench, Khalise Vidal provided a spark with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, and Jayda Scorza added 11 points with multiple and-ones to keep the scoring balance intact. As a team, the Falcons finished with 19 steals, forced 32 Eastern Florida turnovers, and outrebounded the Titans 39–35, all while dishing out 17 assists. The win improves Daytona State to 22–4 overall and 14–2 in conference play and secures the Citrus Conference regular-season championship for the Falcons. Falcons will be back on the road for their next conference game versus Miami Dade College on Saturday, February 28th, at 2:00 p.m.
