Daytona State College put together another strong home performance on Wednesday night, powering past Miami Dade College 85–67 to stay at the top of the Citrus Conference. The teams were tied at 21 after the first quarter, but the Falcons tightened up defensively in the second and then blew the game open in the third, outscoring Miami Dade 48–35 over the middle two quarters to build a comfortable lead.
Offensively, Daytona State was balanced and efficient on the perimeter and at the free-throw line. Lamiyah Hogans led the way with 18 points, going 5-of-10 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, while also adding 4 assists. Catalina Roco matched her with 18 points off the bench, knocking down four threes and giving the Falcons a huge spark. Khalise Vidal chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, Ceylone Brooks added 11 points with a pair of threes, and Keira Mackinnon and Calise Chisholm combined for 12 points and 13 rebounds inside. At the point, Jaeden Williams orchestrated the offense with 9 assists to go along with 8 points and 4 boards.
As a team, Daytona State hit 11 threes, shot 84.6% from the free-throw line, and finished with 17 assists on 26 made field goals. The win moves the Falcons to 16–3 overall and 8–1 in conference play. They will play their next conference game at Hillsborough Community College on Saturday, January 31st, at 2:00 p.m.
