Daytona State College women’s basketball came up short in a 98–89 home loss to Tallahassee State on Saturday at the L. Gale Lemerand Center, unable to get enough key stops down the stretch despite a solid offensive showing. The Falcons shot 50.8% from the field and 40.7% from three, but foul trouble and defensive lapses made it difficult to slow Tallahassee’s scoring in key moments.
Freshman guard Jaeden Williams turned in a career-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting and 6-of-7 from the free throw line, while also dishing out 5 assists and battling through contact all afternoon. She set the tone offensively with her aggressiveness and efficiency, keeping Daytona State within striking distance throughout the game.
The Falcons’ scoring depth was on full display. Catalina Roco came off the bench and caught fire, dropping 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Jayda Scorza added 13 points, and Lamiyah Hogans brought in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Off the bench, Ceylone Brooks, Yali Levy, and Keira Mackinnon each chipped in key perimeter shots and energy plays, combining for 19 points and keeping the offensive rhythm rolling when the starters sat.
The performance reinforced Daytona State’s offensive potential and depth, giving the team plenty to build on as they continue through the heart of their schedule. The Falcons move to 9-2 on the season and will play their next conference game on Saturday, January 3rd, where they will face Eastern Florida State at home.
