Four Falcons Named to FCSAA All-Region Team
Daytona Beach, FL- Four Daytona State College Falcon Volleyball players earned spots on the FCSAA All-Region Team. Sophomore outside hitter Leia Lund received First Team All-FCSAA honors, while sophomore libero Maggie Turner, sophomore middle blocker Beril Celik, and freshman right-side hitter Abana Teran were named to the Second Team.
Leia Lund has been a standout force for the Falcons this season. As the only Daytona State player on the First Team, Lund's consistency and impact on the court have been essential to the team’s success. A two-time FCSAA Offensive Player of the Week, she led the Region in kills with 161, averaging 3.43 kills per set and hitting at a .238 percentage. In addition to her attacking stats, Lund contributed 26 aces, 122 digs, and 12 blocks throughout the season.
Joining her on the Second Team, Maggie Turner, Beril Celik, and Abana Teran each played vital roles in their positions. Turner anchored the Falcon defense, recording 181 digs (3.85 per set), which was the second-highest in the conference. She also contributed 26 assists and 4 aces.
Beril Celik, a transfer from Miami Dade, made her presence known in her first season with Daytona State. She tallied 39 blocks, 37 kills, and posted a .300 hitting percentage, providing steady play at the net.
Freshman Abana Teran, named NJCAA/FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week in the final week of conference play, was a force at the net, leading the team and region in total blocks with 47. She also added 59 kills and 28 digs to round out her strong season.
Head Coach Laura Booker Anderson expressed pride in her players’ accomplishments. “I could have made cases for all of these ladies to be on the First Team, but Leia truly was the heartbeat of our offense all season. Maggie, Beril, and Abana were key parts of our defense, and I know we wouldn’t have been successful without them. Seeing them recognized by the other coaches in the conference shows just how impactful their play has been for us. I couldn’t be more proud!”
These honors reflect the dedication and talent of Daytona State’s players, who have been instrumental in a memorable season for Falcon Volleyball.
