Lund Earns Player of the Week Honors
Daytona Beach, FL - Leia Lund, a standout sophomore outside hitter from Stockholm, Sweden, has been named the FCSAA Offensive Player of the Week. Lund's outstanding performance on the court was pivotal in the Falcons' success at the Blinn College Tournament in Brenham, Texas. Over the past weekend, Lund led the team with an impressive 62 kills across five matches, boasting a hitting percentage of .235. Her all-around contributions didn’t stop there—Lund also showcased her versatility by recording 49 digs, 8 aces, and 2 blocks.
“Leia truly put it all out on the court this weekend! Obviously her offense was outstanding, but she was a beast on both sides of the ball. We certainly wouldn’t have been successful without her relentless spirit and drive leading the way for the Falcons…” stated Head Coach Laura Booker Anderson. She continued by saying “…Leia is the honestly uncommon. She does not ever waiver on her commitment to this team. She always comes to practice ready to work, always has a positive attitude, is incredibly selfless, and literally puts all she has into everything she does on and off the court. No one deserves this award more - I couldn’t be more proud!”
The Falcons went 3-2 over the weekend as the finished-up pre-conference play with an overall record of 4-5. After two weeks on non-stop play against top ranked opponents, the team gets a small reprieve in their schedule before they kick off Citrus Conference play on the road against the Polk State College Eagles at 6pm on September 11th.
