McGuire Earns FCSAA Setter of the Week Honors
Daytona Beach, FL – Daytona State Falcons' sophomore setter, Courtney McGuire, has been awarded the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Setter of the Week honor following a standout performance in the Falcons first Citrus Conference matchup against Polk State College.
In the straight 3 set match win against the Eagles of Polk State, McGuire delivered an impressive 36 assists on the offensive side of the ball. She also contributed 2 kills and 1 ace, adding to the team’s offensive output. On defense, McGuire recorded 4 blocks and 5 digs to help the Falcons secure the conference win.
“Courtney’s performance was essential to our victory,” said Daytona State Head Coach Laura Booker Anderson. “…She saw the court last year in a 6-2 role and was hungry to earn herself the 5-1 spot as our main setter. She has been working extremely hard, not only on the court, but also off the court as a leader. I am so proud of how she has stepped into her role!”
McGuire and her teammates will continue Citrus Conference play this week on the road against an extremely talented Hillsborough Community College at 6pm on Wednesday (9/18) and follow up that match with the Falcon’s home opener against an always competitive Eastern Florida State College at 2pm on Saturday (9/21).
