Daytona State's women's cross country team finished second at the Border Clash Friday night, hosted by Valdosta State University. The Falcons finished behind the host team, Valdosta State, and in front of four Region 8 teams. The Falcons scored 73 points, ten points ahead of Gulf Coast State College, with Florida Gateway, Pensacola State, and Florida State College- Jacksonville finishing in fifth, sixth, and seventh. Cheyenne Hulsey led the Falcons and sprinted in at the finish to grab tenth place overall. "Cheyenne has really improved as a runner and that started this past spring and into the summer. At this time last year, she broke her elbow in a fall and missed the whole season, but then trained in the spring, ran a few track and road races and now she is running better than she ever has." commented Coach Judy Wilson. Freshman Tiffany Cox was the second Falcon runner across the line in 13th place, followed by sophomore Kaitlyn Harding in 14th. Rounding out the top five was Alison Boyle in 17th and Maya Horel in 20th.
Next up for the Falcons is the Southern Showcase at John Hunt Cross Country Park in Huntsville, AL on Friday, September 13th.
