Daytona State women captured the FCSAA Region 8 title on Friday at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Led by freshman Emma Turner, the Falcons took home their third title in program history, having won in 2020 and 2023. "This team has been improving all fall. They are such a cohesive group and very encouraging of each other which has just been great all around," commented Coach Judy Wilson. The Falcons scored 26 points, ahead of second place team Gulf Coast State College with 85 points. The Falcons put four in the top seven. Earning All Region were Turner (second), Brianna Crawford (third), Kennedy Flores (sixth) and Tiffany Cox (seventh). Crawford had to dig deep to hold her place in the last 100 meters as two runners from other teams challenged her down the homestretch. "We are really proud of Bri for fighting to the end", Wilson commented. Cox improved her placing this year, having missed the All Region honor last year by one place. "We are so happy for Tiffany. She works so hard, and after just missing all region last year, this is a testament to her work ethic.", Wilson said. Freshman Kyleigh Halloran wrapped up the Falcon Five with an eighth place finish, putting all five Falcons in the top 8, a good sign for the upcoming NJCAA National Championships. The Falcon team spread from first to fifth runner was 1:05 and this bodes well as they look to move up in the national rankings. Next up for the Falcons is the NJCAA National Championships in Ft Dodge, IA on November 8th.
