The Daytona State women's cross country team received a #6 ranking in the NJCAA preseason poll. This is the highest preseason ranking for the Falcons in program history. Returning from last year's top seven are Tiffany Cox (8th in the Region 8 Championships) Cheyenne Hulsey (10th in the Region) and Maya Horel (11th in the Region). Brianna Crawford also returns for her sophomore year and has gained valuable experience since last season. This sophomore group will combined their efforts with a talented freshmen class led by Emma Turner from East River High School. Other top freshmen include Kennedy Flores, Jennifer Gonzalez, Kyleigh Halloran, Kylee Lokensgard, Taylor Novak, Maria Phillips, and Keria Galan. Galan returns to Daytona State after completing her AA and AS in nursing in the early 2000's. She will be working on a bachelor's degree in Supervision and Management and running cross country for the first time, but having run the Boston Marathon in April, she is no stranger to running. "We always seem to find that one non traditional student-athlete to make thing interesting", commented Head Coach Judy Wilson, now in her eighth season at Daytona State. The Falcons kick of the season at Cecil Field in Jacksonville Friday at 7pm at the Florida Intercolliegate Meet hosted by the Univeristy of North Florida.
