The Daytona State College men's soccer team kicked off their campaign at the Tom Bichy Memorial Tournament with a thrilling 3-3 draw against nationally ranked #7 Harcum College.
The Falcons faced early adversity, going down to 10 men in just the 10th minute. Harcum quickly took advantage, scoring in the 12th minute to grab a 1-0 lead. Despite the setback, Daytona State held firm for the remainder of the first half.
The second half saw a revitalized Falcons squad. Josue Youta equalized with a composed finish off an assist from Bismark Ayamba. Moments later, Youta flicked the ball into the path of Kayoum M'Bamba, who calmly slotted it home to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute.
Harcum responded swiftly, leveling the match in the 52nd minute and then regaining the lead with 21 minutes remaining. With Daytona State trailing 3-2, Fernando Martinez made a crucial goal-line clearance to keep the Falcons in the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mathew McCall was outstanding between the posts, recording 7 saves to keep his team within striking distance.
With just two minutes left on the clock, Youta stepped up and converted a penalty to secure a hard-fought 3-3 draw.
