Daytona State College men's soccer continued their impressive run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Miami Dade in a Region 8 showdown on Sunday. The Falcons, now 10-1-2 on the season and a 3-0 in region play, secured the win thanks to a late goal from sophomore forward Lance Talley.
The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams enjoying extended spells of possession. Daytona State registered five shots to Miami Dade's four, but neither side could find the breakthrough. Sharks goalkeeper Samuel Cavo came up big with a crucial save to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
The Falcons nearly took the lead in the 60th minute, with a shot saved off the goal line. Daytona State kept pressing, earning six corner kicks in the final 20 minutes. Their persistence paid off in the 87th minute when Talley rose above the defense to net the game-winner off a corner, sealing the Falcons' tenth win of the season.
Goalkeeper Matthew McCall was solid between the posts, recording five saves and earning Falcons their eighth clean sheet of the year.
