The Daytona State College Falcons capped off their South Carolina road trip in dominant fashion, defeating USC Lancaster 5-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Falcons return home unbeaten from their trip.
The match began as a tightly contested affair, with both teams battling for midfield control. The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute when freshman midfielder Joachim Kyei capitalized on a second-chance opportunity, slotting home the opening goal to give the Falcons a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Daytona State came out firing in the second half and quickly took control of the match. In the 57th minute, Kayoum M'Bamba doubled the lead, finishing a well-placed assist from Kyle Bernardo. Just one minute later, Kyei turned provider, setting up Bismark Ayamba to make it 3-0.
The Falcons continued to apply pressure, and in the 66th minute, Kyei notched his second assist of the day, linking up with Josue Youta, who scored his second goal of the weekend.
USC Lancaster managed to pull one back in the 77th minute, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed shortly after when Carlos Rojas calmly converted from the penalty spot to seal the 5-1 victory.
Daytona State will return home to face Region 8 opponent #2-ranked Eastern Florida State College. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 7 p.m.
