Daytona Beach, FL – The Daytona State College women's soccer team closed its regular-season slate by capturing the 2025 FCSAA Region 8 regular-season championship, pushing its streak of seasons with a conference title to three. The Falcons went 6-0 in regular season Region 8 matches this season, the first in school history.
The Falcons have overall captured five titles in the last ten seasons, including three regular-season crowns (2016, 2023, 2024, 2025) and one tournament trophy (2024).
With Saturday's 5-1 win over Eastern Florida, the Falcons also earned the #1 seed for the FCSAA Region 8 semifinals (Oct. 23).
Daytona's offense came out strong in the first half out shooting the Titans 10-2 and earned the lead off a corner kick from Valeria Vasquez in which Susu Roberts got a head on the ball but eventually deflected into the goal off a Titan defender. Reese Garcia Roman would put the Falcons up 2-0 in the 43rd minute of play as she would score her fourth goal of the season.
The Falcons maintained their offensive attack in the second half and, just under 2 minutes into the half, Roberts would get credit for her first goal of the match. Destiny Powell would kill off the game for the Falcons getting her first two goals of her career in the 82nd and 87th minute of play to close out the game 5-1. Jamaican National Team teammate, Shaneil Buckley would set Powell up for her first goal in the Daytona State uniform.
The Falcons outshot the Titans 22-8. Julianna Trujillo would pick up three saves in the match with one goal against, a penalty that she initially saved but Eastern Florida was able to capitalize on the rebound.
Daytona State, earning the #1 seed by going undefeated in Region 8 play this season will play the #4 seed Polk State College on Thursday, October 23rd at 5:30pm. The FCSAA Region 8 Championship is hosted by Miami Dade College.
