DSC Sweeps the Day in Second Conference Matchup
Game 1: Daytona State 9, Polk State 1 (5 innings)
Daytona State opened the conference matchup with a commanding 9-1 run-rule victory over Polk State at home.
Polk State drew first blood in the third inning when Kirsten Aldridge doubled to right-center, driving in Calonnie Holmes for a 1-0 lead. The Falcons responded immediately in their half of the inning when Nyree James led off with a triple, Riley Makousky reached on error, scoring James, tying the game at 1. Makousky later scored on a second error, followed by Azlynn Gomes tripling to right-center to plate Aurielle Reavis, giving Daytona State a 3-1 advantage. Gomes then scored on a pass ball, extending the lead to 4-1 before the inning ended.
Daytona State continued to pour it on in the fifth. Alexa Edmands tripled to right-center, driving in Destiny Horcajo, and Maggie Castaneda followed with a double that plated Edmands. Nyree James singled to bring home Castaneda, and Gomes added a two-RBI single, scoring Juleah Patterson and Makousky to walk it off with a run-rule victory.
Daytona State finished with 13 hits and applied steady pressure throughout, capitalizing on three Polk State errors while generating consistent hard contact across the lineup.

Unser faced just 20 batters and consistently attacked the zone, limiting Polk State's opportunities and keeping the Eagles off balance throughout the afternoon.

The Falcons closed out the home series with a 2-1 victory over Polk State, earning a clean sweep in conference play. The game remained tight until the sixth inning, when Daytona State finally broke through. Destiny Horcajo led the charge with a triple to right-center, driving in Aurielle Reavis for the first run. Alexa Edmands followed with a sacrifice fly, plating Horcajo and giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Polk State threatened in the seventh, scoring on a wild pitch, but the Falcons' bullpen held firm to secure the win.

Kaylee Martineau delivered a dominant outing, going 6.2 innings while allowing just one run on three hits, walking two, and striking out nine. Leala Kloewer closed out the final third of an inning to finish the game strong. Polk State's Avery Wende pitched well but took the loss, giving up two runs (both earned) on five hits over 5.1 innings with one walk and one strikeout.
