Falcons Ride Dominant Arms to Sweep of St. Petersburg

Daytona State College put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball, using steady offense and dominant pitching in the circle to defeat St. Petersburg College 7-0.
After a quiet first inning, Daytona State opened the scoring in the second when Nyree James delivered an RBI single to bring home Maggie Castaneda.
The Falcons created separation in the third inning. Alexa Edmands drove in two runs with a double down the left field line, scoring Destiny Horcajo and Azlynn Gomes. Later in the frame, Castaneda reached on an error that allowed Edmands to score, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Daytona State continued to build momentum in the fourth as Horcajo tripled to right center, driving in Gomes to make it 5-0. The Falcons added two more runs in the fifth, highlighted by another timely single from James that brought in two and extended the lead to 7-0.
Daytona State finished with 12 hits in the contest, consistently applying pressure throughout the game.

Daytona State added to its lead in the third inning, capitalizing on an error before Destiny Horcajo delivered a two-run triple down the left field line to extend the advantage to 4-0.
St. Petersburg broke through in the sixth inning, stringing together timely hits as Thersea Diez drove in two runs with a single to cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Falcons quickly responded in the bottom half with a game-breaking rally. Alexa Edmands sparked the inning with an RBI single, and Nyree James followed with a three-run triple to blow the game open. Reavis later added an RBI groundout to cap a five-run inning and seal the 9-2 win.
